Janet is a passionately committed Catholic leader whose faith permeates everything she undertakes. She is a wife, mother and grandmother. She is a graduate of Purdue University where she received a BSHu in Speech pathology along with her teaching certificate. Early in her 39 years of marriage to John, she worked with severe mentally and physically handicapped children in Illinois. This position solidified her lifelong ideal of promoting and protecting the beauty and dignity of all human persons during every stage of life.
After God blessed them with their first child, Janet became a homemaker and eventually homeschooled their six children. During this time, Janet’s faith was put into action through her many apostolic and volunteer endeavors. Most notable was her pro-life counseling at Birthright, her involvement on parish council along with parish pro-life and formation committees. She formed two Catholic homeschool groups (one in Bardstown and one in Louisville). She also taught CCD classes, Summer Bible School, and along with her husband John, taught marriage prep through the Archdiocese of Louisville. Janet initiated and led a parish youth group for teens, was a rosary volunteer at a local nursing home and worked with local Blue Army Cadets. She was also a 4-H leader and an American Heritage Girls leader. Her family, youth and pro-life work are highlights of a life lived at the service of the church.
When her children were no longer homeschooled, Janet re-entered the workforce and taught literature, English, math and science as a middle school teacher. In 2006, she became the principal of Triple Crown Academy, an independent school teaching in the Catholic tradition. After the school closed, Janet became a substitute teacher in Oldham county schools. During that time, she briefly taught 7
th and 8
th grade religion at an archdiocesan elementary school.
Janet’s faith is continually being nourished and formed as a 20+ year member of Regnum Christi, an ecclesial movement in the Church. Janet’s Catholic faith and authentic Christian values are the foundation for her personal and professional life.
A few years ago, Janet became involved in spreading the message of "Theology of the Body" (TOB). Working with Ruah Woods to plan and organize a day retreat for local high school students helped her to realize that more needed to be accomplished. After teaching TOB to 8
th graders and attending a teacher conference at Ruah Woods, the message of TOB has brought her to a place where she wants to actively bring about this message to the families, men and women of Louisville.
