Br Vinh Pham was born in Orange County, California, the forth of seven children. His parents escaped from Vietnam in a fishing boat with his three older siblings and grandmother shortly after the war. He is the first born American of his family. His older sister is a Dominican with the Dominican Sisters of Mary Immaculate Province in Houston, Texas.
He received his calling at the age of 25 while working for Mercedes Benz and preparing to start a family. You’ll have to invite him over for dinner to get the rest on that story. He entered the novitiate in 2009 in Cheshire, Connecticut. He professed his vows of poverty, chastity and obedience for the first time in 2011. He has a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the Regina Apostolorum University in Rome, Italy. He is currently in the apostolic internship part of his priestly formation. He is assigned as assistant to the youth work director for the Ohio Valley, who is currently deacon Lucio Boccacci. He mentors high school boys part time at Royalmont Acadamy and accompanies Conquest clubs in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. He also helps directs the Holy Week Missions in Cincinnati for high school boys.
The discovery of Regnum Christi during his internship has made a dramatic impact on his vocation. Initially unaware of the beauty and richness of the spiritual family, he was astounded by this reality of the charism. He is slowly and attentively absorbing in all that God is blessing him with through the gift of his Legionary brothers, consecrated sisters and lay family members. He is so thankful for this spiritual family.
He enjoys volleyball, basketball, video game, disc golf, cars, motorcycles, technology, nature and getting his hands dirty with gadgets and motors. He loves spending quality time with those around him. His favorite bible verse is Isaiah 55: 8-9. His favorite book is
“The Evidential Power of Beauty” by Fr. Thomas Dubay.
