Thy Kingdom Come!
Hey everyone!
I'm pleased to meet you. My name is Br Ryan Carlin, and it is a blessing to serve you all here in the Ohio Valley. I originally hail from Baltimore, Maryland, and have been involved in Regnum Christi since I joined ECYD in 1995.
I was blessed to meet Regnum Christi early in life, and over the years, my whole family also became part of the Regnum Christi family back in Maryland. During my formative years, our family was blessed to know and work alongside of so many great Legionaries, Consecrated Women, Consecrated Men, and other lay members of the Movement. I first heard the call to follow God in the Legionary priesthood on a visit to the Apostolic School in New Hampshire when I was 11 years old, but being a rather stubborn Irishman I spent seven years trying to convince God that there were other, much better, ways I could love and serve Him as a Lay member of Regnum Christi. But since God is always faithful and eternally patient, he eventually was able to get through to me and when I graduated high school in 2006, I went on to join the Legionary novitiate in Cheshire, Connecticut. As usual He knew best, and I will never be able to thank Him enough for bringing me to where I am today.
Since then I have been blessed to study and minister in Cheshire Connecticut, Thornwood New York, Chicago Illinois, Detroit Michigan, Rome Italy, Palermo Italy, and Mexico City Mexico. During these years of seminary formation, I have been blessed to study an associate degree of classical humanities, a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, a bachelor’s degree in theology, and a master’s degree in moral philosophy.
Since a Legionary is also always a missionary, even during his years of seminary studies, I have been blessed to serve the Movement in a number of capacities over the years including Chaplain to ECYD boys, Chaplain to Regnum Christi Men, Chaplain to the Lumen Institute, Chaplain to Regnum Christi Young Men and Women, Writer/Blogger, and Development Director.
Since July 2019, I have been serving the Regnum Christi family here in the Ohio Valley as the local vocation coordinator as well as the business manager for the Legionary community. As of June 2020, I have also been asked to lead the development efforts for the Legion of Christ for our locality. I look forward to working beside each of you as we continue to share the Gospel with the many souls Christ has planned for us to touch in the years ahead.
I said before that I am from Baltimore… so yes, I am a Ravens fan. My apologies to all the Bengals and Browns fans reading this and the best of luck to you all. Growing up I was very involved in the Boy Scouts where I earned my Eagle Scout rank, and I was a long time Lacrosse and Soccer player. I also love the outdoors and as a youth could normally be found outdoors camping, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, backpacking, or anything else I could do out of doors. As far as my indoor hobbies go… I love music (especially country), fiction and non-fiction literature, art, photography, writing (checkout my music blog http://www.musicinsideu.com/ and spirituality blog https://godsite729501600.wordpress.com/ ), and studying psychology & the spiritual life.
Here in the Cincinnati Legionary community I serve the community as the administrator so I make sure all our bills are paid, finances are in order, our house maintained, and whatever other things come up here in our home that need doing (trash man, shopping, you name it).
It is a blessing to be a part of the Regnum Christi Ohio Valley Family and I look forward to serving each of you in the years ahead. If you have any questions about or want to be involved in our vocational or development work here in the locality, please feel free to reach out to me and I would be glad to be of assistance. I will leave my contact information for you at the end. Please also feel free to contact me with any mass or prayer intentions you would like our community to pray for on your behalf. I hope to be able to meet each of you in person sometime soon, but in the meantime count on my daily prayers for each of you. Blessings…
